Where available, Edit and Delete let you change or remove your own insight from the same browser within 15 minutes of posting. The discussion cookie identifies your access to these controls. Edits do not extend the window. Deleting hides the insight from public views; it does not immediately erase the retained private record. We record author edits and deletions privately, including before and after text and the original posting time. This audit history is retained in the active database for up to one year, with longer preservation when a valid hold applies. It is not published in the discussion feed.
Adults can post plain-text insights on a crypto-pick page without creating an account. The post, an automatically assigned animal nickname, its date and time, and the crypto-pick page are public. Live posts are also shown on the homepage for their first seven days unless hidden or removed. Other visitors may copy or capture a public post. The nickname does not verify identity and should not be treated as an assurance that two posts came from the same person.
Adults can also create a public homepage watchlist containing one to three crypto symbols. Its symbols, anonymous animal nickname/icon and posting time appear in Watchlists and All. Recent feeds show up to 200 live watchlists from the preceding seven days. Your nickname stays consistent within this homepage Watchlists thread while your discussion cookie remains. The same 15-minute author Edit/Delete window, reporting, moderation, private audit, identity records and retention rules apply. Watchlists are reader submissions.
When you post, we privately record your IP address and browser user-agent for abuse prevention and legal requests. Those details are encrypted in the discussion database and are not displayed with your post. We also use keyed records of IP addresses to limit posting, duplicate reports, and temporarily block abusive sources. Staff can review and reverse those blocks without seeing the raw IP address in the moderation panel. A first-party sc_discussion cookie, lasting up to one year, assigns a consistent nickname within each crypto-pick page or the homepage Watchlists thread without an account. Clearing the cookie can change that nickname. The cookie does not subscribe you to the newsletter.
Public crypto-pick insights remain on their pick page until removed by us or by their author where deletion is available. Homepage watchlists leave the recent public feed after seven days; their retained records remain subject to the same moderation, identity-retention and preservation rules. We delete the private IP address and browser record and its post-linked keyed IP record from the active discussion database after 90 days, and short-lived form and rate-limit records sooner. IP blocks expire within 90 days of being applied. Reports are kept in the active database for up to 90 days. Removed posts are deleted from the active database one year after removal. Staff moderation actions are recorded privately for up to one year. A valid preservation obligation can extend these periods for the affected records. Backups may retain older copies until their normal rotation or a preservation hold ends. You may request review or deletion of a post by emailing staff@speccoins.com with the pick ticker, the post time, and enough detail to locate it. We may ask for information to avoid removing someone else's post.
This discussion is not private or untraceable. We may use the recorded information to investigate abuse, respond to valid legal process, or protect the site and its readers. Discussion data is not used to sign you up for email or SMS alerts.
