Maple Finance (SYRUP) arranges loans for institutional borrowers, with part of its lending revenue buying its governance token.
Its October update reported $1.67 billion in loans, up 12% from a year earlier. September revenue crossed a threshold that doubled the share used for token purchases from 10% to 20%. Its purchase report records $314,116 spent buying approximately 1.37 million SYRUP, compared with $147,098 for August. Bought tokens stay in the strategic fund; they are not burned or paid as dividends.
At approximately $223 million market cap, SYRUP could benefit if lending revenue sustains larger recurring purchases. Reported fully diluted valuation is approximately $242 million using current total supply, not a fixed maximum. The next monthly purchase report and November 11 update offer coming-weeks tests. Purchases remain modest, and loans fell 9% from the prior quarter. Borrower defaults, token releases, fund resales and contract failures remain risks; the buyback framework lasts six months.
Opinion: SYRUP could offer a potentially undervalued institutional-lending opportunity if recurring loan revenue sustains token purchases through its coming monthly report despite credit losses and the temporary buyback framework.
