THORChain (RUNE) lets people swap coins across separate blockchains, using its token in every trading pool and as collateral from network operators.
Network records show approximately $1.3 million in swap fees during the 29 days through October 28. Fees are converted into RUNE, while operators must bond the token to secure pools. Its October 21 upgrade prepares Monero trading, but another release and resumed node rotations are still required.
At approximately $200 million reported market cap and $215 million fully diluted valuation, RUNE could benefit if repaired routes bring sustained trading. The pending release and November fee totals offer coming-weeks tests. September's figures were inflated by stolen-fund flows; past exploits, current trading restrictions, reserve-token releases and regulatory pressure remain substantial risks.
Opinion: RUNE could offer a potentially undervalued cross-chain trading opportunity if coming upgrades restore routes and sustain fee-driven token demand despite repeated security failures and regulatory risks.
