GMX (GMX) is the governance and staking token of a multichain decentralized exchange for perpetual futures and swaps.
GMX uses 27% of several trading fees to buy its token in the open market and reports about $3.1 million of purchases since March. A DAO vote approved a first $3 million transfer toward a token market-making fund, but execution is still pending; the fund could buy GMX or provide liquidity depending on market conditions.
At approximately $84 million in circulating value with about $3 million in daily token trading, GMX may be overlooked relative to its active fee-funded purchases. Bought-back token distributions are suspended until a much higher price trigger, while weaker trading volumes, treasury execution and smart-contract risk could undermine the case.
Opinion: GMX could offer a potentially undervalued play on decentralized derivatives if the approved fund is executed and trading fees sustain token purchases, although suspended distributions and lower volume remain meaningful risks.
