Api3 (API3) supplies market prices to crypto lending apps and uses part of its revenue to buy its governance token.
Its October 29 proposal would cap supply at 200 million tokens by making a final approximately 9.9 million-token treasury mint, then removing minting powers and ending new staking rewards. The vote remains open; the latest weekly reward added approximately 948,000 tokens. The project reported $15.7 million from outside depositors in its lending vaults on October 22.
At approximately $35 million reported market cap and $45 million fully diluted valuation using current supply, API3 could benefit if paid lending activity sustains purchases while new issuance stops. Its tracker records $21,662 spent buying tokens on October 6; bought tokens can later fund grants. The vote and November 5 scheduled mint offer coming-week tests. Existing reward sales, the final treasury allocation, an unpatched staking flaw, lending losses and concentrated signer control remain risks.
Opinion: API3 could offer a potentially undervalued lending-data opportunity if its proposed supply cap ends recurring dilution and paid usage sustains token purchases despite treasury supply, selling and governance risks.
